Event Wrap Up
The Creative Industries Property Summit (CIPS) was a first-of-its-kind, one-day event, designed to bring together Real Estate and the Creative Industries.
Taking place at Kings Place London, this was a fantastic opportunity to bring together the property and creative industries, to share knowledge, network, and discuss key themes around the role that the creative industries play in society.
Creative Industries Property Summit – Key Facts
- One day interactive conference
- The UK creative industries generated £125bn of GDP in 2023
- Creating jobs at 3x the UK average rate
- Exporting £46bn of goods and services annually
LOFT - Official Furniture Partner
LOFT came on board as official furniture partner for the Summit. There is a synergy between LOFT and Movers and Shakers, and in particular the Creative Industries Property Summit was an event that the team were proud to be a part of.
We worked with the Movers & Shakers team to dress and furnish the main stage – to create an informal, lounge style setting for panellists.
LOFT also designed and installed the pieces in the main gallery. Hitting the brief to create breakout spaces in between sessions, we brought in a mix of corner sofas, on trend occasional chairs, and tonal pieces.
Key Themes - Collaboration
The objective of the summit was to create open dialogue, and to provide a meeting place and collaborative platform. There is a shared interest to better imagine, design and deliver places, and this was clear to see from the stellar agenda and panel session content.
There were several consistent themes from the day. One key takeaway was the view that “collaboration between the industries and partners should happen at the beginning – the pre-planning stage, and the Creative Industries should not be an add on”.
“Creative Places Create Value”
One session discussed that it is important to “educate the Creative Industries on the (financial) language and imperatives of developers”, in order to support progress and collaboration.
Another key point highlighted was that “The Creative Industries have a major role to play in forming built environment locations that are aesthetically, culturally and economically valuable, as well as having distinct identities”.
The Creative Economy
"A key driver for UK growth and the power for better places and lives"
Panellists discussed how “Borough councils are well placed to facilitate and forge collaborations between developers and creatives”.
This formed another key theme of the day – with another session adding that “A strong alliance between the public and private sectors is key to success. A focus on the local, often unique cultural and creative characteristics of neighbourhoods and districts will help them to prosper”.
What's Next?
This was a truly inspiring event, achieving the thoughtful, collaborative and creative content that Movers & Shakers is well known for.
Movers & Shakers have a fantastic calendar of events throughout the year. In October, they will be holding the 10th Annual BTR Forum in London, where LOFT will be returning as furniture partner.
